I first discovered scuba diving in 2013, and fell in love with the underwater world since. I learnt to swim as an adult, it was the diving bug that made me challenge myself to become a much better swimmer and diver, I am always looking for the next course to improve my diving skills. During my divemaster internship, I really enjoyed being able to share my love and passion for diving with fellow divers, and decided to take the next step to become an instructor.
I enjoy diving in colours, absolutely love wreck dives and night dives, in fact any dives. I’m always planning the next fun dive if you’re looking for a buddy to go out with!
I have been captivated by the underwater world all my life. I was always a ‘water baby’ growing up in suburban Melbourne, and spending family summer holidays on the Morning ton Peninsula foreshore. Scuba diving was a natural progression for me. I gained my Open Water certification in the early 1980’s, and eventually progressed into dive leadership/ instruction during the 1990’s.
I dived whenever I could (in those days, every weekend), whilst ‘paying the bills’ doing my ‘weekday’ job as an accountant. A lot has changed in my life since those early days, but my passion for scuba remains as strong as ever.
I have dived extensively along the Australian east coast, and have also been fortunate to experience some amazing diving overseas, in the Pacific Islands, Asia and Europe.
As an instructor, I have always enjoyed introducing people to the thrill of SCUBA diving. I never tire of it, and am constantly in awe of our stunning diving here in Victoria. My motivation is always to teach new students in a fun, but informed way, and give them the tools and confidence to continue their underwater adventures.
After many years living interstate, I have now re-settled on the Bellarine Peninsula, and have been teaching with Stephen here at ADI for the last 12 months. It is a great place to work. The PADI training system is also a very good one. So if you have ever wanted to ‘get wet’ … come on in… I look forward to seeing you on my next Open Water dive course.
After completing various specialised PADI courses with Australian Diving Instruction such as Deep, Wreck, Tech etc to improve my skills I became interested in teaching others about diving so they can also enjoy the “world below”. The first step was to complete the Divemaster program and spend time assisting other instructors train people. The most rewarding part was to see the expression on their faces as they learned new skills and became qualified divers now able to enjoy diving along with the opportunity to meet new people. This experience further increased my desire to be able to teach diving so after many discussions with Steve ( and encouragement ) I took the opportunity to be part of Australian Diving Instructions first ever Instructor training program. The IDC/IE was very challenging and rewarding and as a qualified Open Water Scuba Instructor I look forward to working with ADI to introduce people to the fantastic world of Scuba Diving.
I was a bit slow to get going with my diving career, I did my open water course in 2002 and didn’t get back into the water until 2015. Joining ADI was the best thing I could have done. The help, support, training, advice and friendships are second to none. After a summer of helping out around the dive shop and tagging along on courses, I decided to do my Dive Master training and I haven’t looked back. Being a DM not only means I can assist on courses, but also the training has made me a much better diver. I may become an instructor one day, but in the meantime I have the opportunity to really perfect my skills and knowledge. It’s an absolute bonus to have beautiful Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait as part of my working environment.
