FIRST PARAPLEGIC COURSE DIRECTOR IN THE UNITED KINGDOM RECEIVES PRAISE FROM MEMBER OF SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

TAMPA, Fla. (December 4, 2006) –The first paraplegic Course Director in the United Kingdom, Fraser Bathgate, has received praise from Patricia Ferguson— Scotland’s Minister for Tourism, Culture & Sport—for receiving the highest level of qualification possible in scuba diving.

In her letter, Ferguson congratulates Bathgate for his accomplishments stating, “Your achievement is worthy of much merit given that you have overcome issues of accessibility. This makes your bravery and determination all the more laudable and I would like to take this opportunity to extend my congratulations to you on your recent success.”

Bathgate completed his Course Director training through the NAUI Europe office in August of 2006.

“I really enjoyed working with Fraser during the NAUI Course Director Workshop last summer here in Holland.  His diving knowledge and skills as an educator were impressive and made my job easier than it would have been otherwise,” said Jelle Buisman, Training Manager for NAUI Services Group Europe, Inc.  “Many so called able-bodied diving instructors could learn much from someone with Fraser’s determination and focus.”
